Creating Custom Menu in WordPress

For creating the menus you do not need any kind of plugin and by following the below given steps you can easily include, exclude and rearrange your page links according to your requirement. You can even have different menus for different pages. Additionally you can do nesting of pages to create submenus, by creating category pages you can display your same post on different pages etc. So now it’s time to implement it up.

Step 1:  Log into your WordPress Administrative Dashboard and select “Menus” under the appearance tab as shown below

Step 2:  Select the “Menu Name” input and give your new custom menu a title.

Step 3 : Now its time to add pages to your menu, and for that check the proper boxes of the list of pages you want to add and click the button of “Add to Menu”.

Step 4: You can add custom links to your menu to directly link to other site.

Step 5: You can also add category pages so as to redirect the pages right to the category you have designated for it and for that you only need to check the boxes you need to be categorized.

If your theme doesn’t have the navigation support, you can use the Custom Menu Widget. The one thing you need to keep in mind is you have to click save menu each time you make some changes in your menu.

Step 6: You can also change menu item titles independently from the page name itself. To edit a category or page title, click the down arrow to the right of the item.

After this step it will get expanded, then you can enter it’s new label name.

Note: In the above given figure the remove option is used to remove any of the items from the menu.

Now its the time to activate your menu. In the Theme Locations module, under Primary Menu, select the title of the custom menu you want to activate and then click the Save button as shown below
