Use Facebook Like button and Like box on WordPress

Here in this blog post, I will be discussing about Facebook Like button plugin which you can show on the top of your website or anywhere you want. Moreover, I will also talk about the Facebook Like box which you can show in the footer widget or anywhere you want, which will give a clear picture to the visitors about the liking of our website.

How Facebook Like button and Like box can be so effective?

In the following article, I have added the above features in the Colorway WordPress theme . However, you can add the same features in any other theme.

Adding Facebook Like button on the Website

Follow the steps given below and add Like button on your website.

Click on the link given below
https://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like/ Now mention the URL of your website and get the code as shown below.

This what will you get after this.

Now copy the first code (java script). Open the file header.php of the Colorway theme and place the code as shown below.

Note
: The code should be placed within the body tag, not anywhere else.

Now copy the second code (html code). And in the same file, place the code as shown below.

After this, save the file and visit your website. It will appear as shown below.

Note
: Here, I have placed the code under the logo class as I wanted to show the Like button below the Colorway logo. However, you can place the html code anywhere you want the Like button to be appeared.

Adding Facebook Like box on the Website

Like box can be shown in the sidebar or in the footer widget. Here, I have shown the Like box in the footer widget area.

Follow the steps given below and show the Like box on your website.

Click on the link given below.
https://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like-box/ Now mention the URL of your website and get the code as shown below.

This what will you get after this. Click on the iframe option and copy the iframe code.

Go to your Dashboard and follow the steps as given below.
Dashboard
–> Appearance
–> Widgets Place the iframe code under any of the widgets. Here, I have placed the code under the fourth footer widget.

After placing the iframe code, click on “Save” button. Manage the width and height of the code as per your requirement. Now visit your website. The footer widget area will appear as:
